A little about my back story
I've come to psychotherapy after a long career across health and social care, much of it at a senior level.
I trained first as a mental health nurse, then as a general nurse, and later qualified as a social worker, before training as a psychotherapist.
In social work, my specialism was child protection and children and family services. I went on to manage specialist joint health and social care services for children and for people with developmental needs, and to oversee care quality in nursing homes and charities.
In mental health, I began on the front line and went on to lead, at a senior level, frontline crisis teams, recovery services and dementia services.
As well as my private practice, I am a trustee of a national charity supporting people affected by prescription-drug dependence.
This breadth — clinical and managerial, spanning mental health, child protection and complex care — is what I bring to the consulting room: a grounded, holistic way of working that isn't thrown by complexity.
